Product Review: Creme of Nature Argan Oil Intensive Conditioning Treatment

[Source]

I haven't bothered with anything Creme of Nature since I went natural.  Not for any particular reason but I believe I was so consumed by this new world of products specifically for natural hair that I'd forgotten all about them.  Well, they certainly caught my attention with the pretty packaging for their new Argan Oil line. But does the effectiveness of what's inside match the beautifully designed outside? Read on to find out.

This product DOES contain silicones, parabens and mineral oil

Product Description & Claim:

  • Strengthens and prevents hair breakage
  • Deeply infuses moisture
  • Leaves hair soft, silky and full of body
  • Restores luminous shine and leaves the hair soft
  • Infused with Certified Organic Argan Oil from Morocco
Intensive Conditioning Treatment is an intensively deep conditioning treatment that strengthens, revitalizes and gives luminous shine. It prevents hair breakage and deeply infuses moisture from the inside out. Ideal for all hair types, including relaxed, natural and color-treated hair, this treatment can be used after every shampoo as a quick conditioner, or every week as a reconstructor.

My Experience:
The Good: The conditioner goes on and spreads very easily.  The color and consistency is that of banana pudding.  I didn't have to use an excessive amount of the product to get my hair saturated which I liked very much..  It was evident that my curls loved the conditioner because when I rinsed it out, I had highly defined and frizz free coils. (see pic below).  My hair did feel stronger it was almost as if my fine strands were a little more plump than before.

The Bad: Although I liked how this intensive conditioner made my curls and coils pop, my hair was not left with the feeling of being moisturized and soft as the product claims.  Truth be told it was a little dry feeling although it didn't look dry.  Granted, this product is much like a protein treatment so I would expect that my hair wouldn't be as soft as if I used a moisturizing conditioner but the product should not claim something that it cannot deliver.

Also, I would have expected this conditioner to have a pleasant scent but it didn't.  The scent of this conditioner reminded me of a doctor's office.  And when I'm washing my hair, I want to be mentally whisked away to a pleasant place--the spa, a tropical island of sorts.  I wouldn't expect to be taken to to thoughts of my next doctor's appointment.

Would I repurchase?  It's not likely but not because this product was horrible but because I have similar products that can do what this one can and leave my hair feeling soft with great sheen.

  2. I saw these products this weekend at Sally's, and wondered about them. Seems like the new thing is adding Argan oil to everything.

  3. HAHA! @ BajanBeauty, I've noticed that as well. Remember a while back it was "Shea nut oit" and then "jojoba oil" and now Argan oil is getting a little shine..LOL

Anyhoot, I'm not sure that I'll try the other products but if I do, I'll certainly share. If you happen to try any of them, let me know how they worked for you.

Embrace, yeah, I was disappointed with the smell, it was "rubber glovey + woody" LOL! They could have thrown in a little hint of lavender or mint or SOMETHING. It would have given them an extra .5 stars :-p

Andrea - I was wondering about it as well and this is my first time using anything with Argan Oil in it. I ordered some pure Argan Oil last week, so once it comes in I'll do a post on how it worked for me. here's hoping!

  14. I haven't used this deep treatment but I have used the shampoo, conditioner, and the I Oil moisturizer and my hair looked a bit better and it did feel soft. Hopefully if I can get my hair cut my hair will feel a bit more different cause right now it's damaged somewhat. I like your curls by the way.
