On Friday, I went and got a fresh fade and by the time I made it home to wash it, it was pretty late. I was too tired to mess with my hair and went straight to bed after washing and rinsing my conditioner. If I was thinking straight, I would have slept in my conditioner and then rinsed the following day. Needless to say, I didn't and my hair was total mess when I woke up.
Unfortunately, I also didn't have much time to fool around with my hair to put it in twists as we had places to be. So as fallback, I went for the ole roll, tuck and pin inspired by Jill Scott's hairstyle at VH1's Divas Celebrate Soul Concert last year.
Now originally, I was going to attempt this style before cutting my hair but never got around to it. Funny thing about not doing the twists though: A few people over the weekend asked if I'd cut my hair into this shape and I had to keep explaining that my hair was simple tucked and rolled.
Next time I think I'll stuff a little Marley braiding hair inside the roll to make it bigger like Jill's but que sera, sera! It served it's purpose for the weekend. :-)
On another note: I never thought it'd feel so good to keep cutting my hair but I was beginning to look a little scruffy weeks after my original cut. I see now that I'm going to have to get my hair cut every other week to maintain it. I'm enjoying my shaved sides nonetheless and I feel like I'm officially out the "natural hair rut" I was in.

I ABSOLUTELY love this inspired look and the look Jill is wearing. I've been growing my hair out on the top and was wondering...what else can I do with it...I think I found it. However I'm going to try it with the long box braids since that's end right now
