Guest Post: Let's Talk Natural

A young man by the name of Mark Savage recently launched his very own web series focused on the beauty of natural hair. He contacted me regarding the web series asking if I'd spread the word. After speaking with Mark and checking out what he had to offer, I gladly obliged. I'm so happy to share it with you all and I hope that anyone that needs encouragement on their natural hair journey, is thinking about going natural or enjoys topics on natural hair will be able to take something away from it just as I did. I love to find out about men that love natural hair.

Let's Talk Natural

The motivation behind my web-series on naturals is to one, continue to produce positive media with people that look like me. Two, shed a light on naturals and how they operate in their daily lives. Three, give them a platform to have healthy positive intellectual conversation and four, allow them to express themselves while having fun!!!

All the interviews I have completed so far have been with BEAUTIFUL QUEENS that I know--absolutely nothing was scripted. They were all delighted when they first heard I was working on a series on natural hair! I would love to see this project open discussions globally with women, men and children on how to not only groom themselves but also how they view themselves. I have a spoken word video coming soon on the true beauty of natural women and I am working with my LOVE Kasheera Latash, Natural Hair guru, on a few positive natural films, stories, videos and possibly books! Kasheera & I want to do more in Philly right now, but we look to travel soon to see other naturals!!

The main reason I became an advocate for women with natural hair is because of my Queen Kasheera! I saw her go from relaxed to natural over the span of six years (we been together for four, she asked for my number...j/k). But watching her made me conscious of what was going on around me and the message became clear that we need to support, love and not judge one another.

Since I have been natural all my life, I have been judged positively and negatively. I'm here to let people know THE NATURAL YOU is great enough! Even though current history has been distorted and the media imposes a certain standard of beauty, we have to make the conscious effort to learn the truth. And the truth is that we are magnificent beyond measure, multi-dimensional beings and multi-talented geniuses!!. The ultimate creator made us perfect with (faults and all). We are here to seek the higher path so we can help ourselves, then help others.
